Vivek P. Kapadia

Vivek P. Kapadia has retired as Secretary to the Government of Gujarat, India. As a civil engineer, he has been in the field of Water Resource Engineering and Management for last 26 years. His focus areas have been design, execution, repairs and operation of large irrigation projects, policy making, techno-legal solutions and dispute resolution related to trans-boundary water sharing. He has attained notable success in managing water resources especially in challenging situations. He has also been instrumental in introducing innovations including application of geosynthetics in hydraulic structures. He has also done extensive work in participatory irrigation management, rejuvenation of ancient Indian water conservation systems and in making productive use of problematic soils.
